Sound Familiar?
Wayfair is not a marketplace, and treating it like one costs money.
Three things that catch suppliers who arrive from Amazon or eBay.
You do not set the retail price
You submit a wholesale cost and Wayfair sets what the customer pays. There is no buy box to win and no price to optimise. What you can control is your cost, your margin under promotion, and whether you say yes to every cost-support request — which is where the money actually goes.
Chargebacks come straight off the remittance
Late despatch, a missing or wrong ASN, damaged goods, packaging that fails — each carries a deduction, and they are taken before you are paid rather than billed for later. Most suppliers never audit them, which means they never find the ones that were wrong.
One bad image blocks the whole product
Wayfair enforces its image spec all-or-nothing. A single photo below the minimum resolution, or a hero that is not on pure white, and the product does not go live at all — with no obvious explanation in Partner Home.

Fit
Is this right for you?
We'd rather tell you now than three months in.
A good fit if…
- ✓You sell furniture, lighting, homeware or similar large-format goods
- ✓You have a warehouse or 3PL in the region you want to sell into
- ✓You can carry the insurance Wayfair requires of its suppliers
- ✓You are comfortable with Wayfair controlling the retail price
- ✓You would rather defend margin than chase volume
Probably not if…
- ✕You need to control the retail price your customer sees
- ✕You operate a strict minimum advertised price across other channels
- ✕You cannot meet despatch and ASN deadlines consistently
- ✕Your packaging cannot survive large-parcel carriage without high damage rates
- ✕You need a one-hour consultation rather than ongoing operational work
Wayfair FAQ
Common questions
Do you need access to my Wayfair account?
Yes, and Wayfair handles this properly. You add us as a user in Partner Home under Account Management, with only the permissions the work requires. We never need your password, you remain the account owner, and you can remove the access at any time.
Can you make Wayfair sell my products at a higher price?
No, and neither can anyone else. Wayfair sets retail from the wholesale cost you submit, using its own pricing algorithm. What we can do is model your landed cost properly, hold a floor when cost support is requested, and make sure the products carrying your best margin are the ones being promoted.
What actually causes chargebacks?
Most of them trace back to order operations — despatching late, sending a wrong or missing ASN, or tracking that does not match. The rest are damage and packaging failures. Both are fixable, and both are cheaper to prevent than to dispute.
Is Wayfair worth it if I already sell on Amazon?
Often yes, particularly for furniture, lighting and larger home goods where Wayfair’s customer is already shopping and Amazon’s fulfilment economics are painful. The warning is that Wayfair’s pricing can undercut your other channels, so it is worth deciding in advance how you feel about that.
Is advertising spend included in your fee?
No. Sponsored Products and Sponsored Shops spend is paid directly to Wayfair from your account. Our fee covers managing it.
What is CastleGate and do I need it?
It is Wayfair’s own fulfilment network — you forward-position stock in their warehouses and they ship it. It usually improves delivery speed and conversion, and it costs more. We model it against drop-shipping on your actual volumes rather than recommending it by default.
How long does supplier approval take?
Typically a few weeks, and most of that is waiting. What you can control is having the business documents, the insurance certificate and a regional warehouse ready before you apply, which is the part we handle.
Am I tied into a contract?
No. Retainers run month-to-month and can be cancelled with 30 days notice.
Tell us what you need.
Send us your catalogue and what you're trying to fix. We'll come back with a clear scope and a fixed price — no drawn-out sales process.
